Standard Horizon HX751EL Floating H/H VHF Since launching its first floating, rugged and submersible hand-held radio, Standard Horizon has now made it even better. The new HX751E replaces the popular HX750E, and offers even more safety features and user functionality. All of the previous specifications remain, such as the IPX-7 waterproofing (submersion to 1 metre for 30 minutes) and the long lasting 1150mAH Lithium-ion battery, but new features include a luminous gasket around the outside of the case, and a change to the keypad layout. This change is to make the large buttons even easier to use, and to incorporate an on/off button for the powerful LED light, which can also strobe SOS when activated. As with its predecessor, the HX751E has a choice of four transmit settings of 6, 5, 2 and 1 watt. These help to extend the life of the battery, and also give a more powerful signal than most competitors, which only have a 5 watt maximum output. The HX751E retains the large, easy to read LCD screen, which features volume and squelch indicators. The HX751E is a great all-rounder radio, ideal for use on the boat, or in the grab bag, with programmable and priority scans, a dual-watch function, and a 9-hour battery life (5/5/90 duty cycle). A preset key can be programmed with up to 10 channels, and there is even a built-in water temperature sensor, which has a useful role. Designed to float face up, and now with a luminous strip, easier operation and bright strobe light, the HX751E is a powerful piece of safety equipment.
